The 2019 Ram 1500 will continue with the design theme for the company’s current model, offering few changes to its functionality and form. Just like fords F-150, the 2019 Ram 1500 will continue with steel over transmission rather than aluminum. The RAM designers have the capability to incorporate intricate shapes as well as body lines which cannot be done with aluminum. Production for the 2019 Ram 1500 is set to be relocated from the current Warren Truck Assembly Plant to Sterling Height Assembly Plant.
This means that production of the Chrysler 200 and the Dodge Dart will be killed to give way for the RAM 1500. Ram is also said to be changing their management style for development of 2019 Ram 1500, where mid-level and low-level engineers are now involved in the decision-making process. This was in order that the tight schedule is adhered to, since production is set to commence on January 28, 2018.
2019 Ram 1500 – Modernized Look
The 2019 Ram 1500, dubbed as the next-gen Ram is said to be an evolution of the current Ram’s design theme. The front fascia will have smaller headlights included, which is more integrated with the grille. The front bumper will have a large opening to allow more air to flow in to help cool the powertrain as well as the large horizontal fog lights that match closely with the headlight theme. A new character line will be included, running horizontally and rearwards from the fender. This is probably why RAM has opted for steel construction instead of aluminum.
The interior of Ram 1500 is expected to have a center console with a flatter design to allow for more storage. The dash together with the center stack and infotainment system to the interior of the current Ram model according to spy photos, but expect changes and updates during development.
The steering wheel will resemble Chrysler’s Pacifica, which features a thinner rim, updated control, and a more modern look. Also in the interior of this truck is a larger gauge cluster that has a larger display at the center with new graphics showing the vehicle’s information. The Ram will also come with fold-flat rear seats that fold completely onto the flow with the back of the backspace acting as the new space for the floor.
2019 Ram 1500 – Engine and Maximum Power Output
The Ram 1500 is expected to host the same drivetrain as the previous model, but updates will probably be added. The 3.6-litre Pentastar V-6 will have a direct injection of fuel into it and a retuned ECU to get more power with better fuel mileage which will continue as Ram’s standard engine. Also, the 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 will also likely get direct fuel injection.
This will make the Hemi, one the most powerful engine in the market today. Currently, it has 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft torque. Those who need a truck with 30 mpg on the highway have an option for the 3.0-litre EcoDiesel. Little more improvements could be made to this engine but expect to note major. Another option is the turbo diesel V-6 with a horsepower of 240 and a torque of 420lb-ft.
When it comes to transmission, the ZF automatic, eight-speed will continue for the RAM trucks. Slight changes may be made to accommodate the different choices for the engines. The 2019 Ram 1500 will continue with the RWD standard. However, an option for the 4WD with Ram’s two-speed transfer case will also be available.
Price and Expected Release Date
The prices for the base trucks will be offered at $28,490 while the maximum amount will be $65,000. The 2019 Ram 1500 is expected to be released in 2018 with reports suggesting that the current model will continue to be built on as the value-oriented model for the fleet.
