The 2020 Mercedes-Benz pickup truck is a mid-size truck in the initial development stages. The German machine will come with unique features with regard to comfort, safety, powertrain and value. Further, it’s expected to come with 2,200-pound payload capacity.
On the other hand, it will feature many cab and chassis configurations. According to Mercedes CEO; Volker Mornhinweg, the initial sales will be focused on Australia, Europe and South America. However, sales will grow gradually over the coming years after dominating China and U.S markets.
2020 Mercedes-Benz Pickup Truck – Exterior and interior Review
The truck will feature curvy front wings for better aerodynamic grille giving it an athletic-looking appearance. It’s expected to come with swept back headlights, LED daytime running lights and LED-illuminated side sills under the doors.
In addition, it will feature a wide tailgate and slim taillights just like the one found in other Mercedes SUVs. The 2020 Mercedes-Benz pickup truck will come with on-road tuned suspension and 20-inch alloy wheels. It’s expected to feature a single bed similar to that of Navara.
The interior will feature leather upholstery adding its versatility and overall appeal. The seats will be made from top-notch materials to offer a luxurious drive. The rear seats will give the pickup truck the ability to haul a maximum of 5 passengers. Also, the truck is also expected to come with a state of the art HD infotainment system complete with DAB radio and Bluetooth.
Safety features will include; lane keeping assists, cruise control, rear cross traffic alert and emergency braking system. Other features include a satellite navigation system, digital voice enhancement, satellite navigation system, front. And also, a rear parking sensor, a multi-function steering wheel, Tyre pressure monitoring system and post-collision automatic breaking.
2020 Mercedes-Benz Pickup Truck – Engine and Performance
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz Pickup Truck will come with two engine options. The base model will be powered by 2.0- litre turbocharged inline 4 petrol engine capable of generating 200 hp and 250 pound-ft of torque. The second engine option will be a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged diesel engine that will give a maximum output of 250 hp and 440 pound-ft of torque. In addition, both engines will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed automatic transmission.
The truck will be an all-wheel drive or an optional rear-wheel drive. The muscular engine will quiet compared to the rivals. Also, the top speed is expected to be around 119mph. On the other hand; it will come with an excellent combined fuel economy of 36.2mpg. From 0-60 mph, it will take approximately 8.0 seconds.
The truck is expected to come with a unique post-collision braking system. Further, the Mercedes-Benz Pickup Truck 2020 will feature a Torsen differential to aid traction. This will ensure torque is distributed between the tires to improve stability and traction.
2020 Mercedes-Benz Pickup Truck – Price and Release Date
Mercedes pickup truck will be officially launched to the market towards the last quarter of 2019. The expected retail price should be around $35,000.However, Mercedes is yet to communicate the official price.
