The GMC Canyon was first released in 2014 at North American International Auto Show. The truck was made available at dealer’s location by the middle of 2014. The 2017 GMC Canyon and Chevy Colorado is the most powerful vehicle in midsize truck segment. The base model will have 2.5-liter 4 cylinder VVT engine capable of generating 200 HP and 191 pound-feet of torque. This model will have only rear wheel drive and six speed manual transmission system. The next upgraded model will have 3.6-liter V6 VVT engine which can produce 305 HP and a torque of 269 pound-feet. Properly equipped V6 engine may have tow rating of 7000 pounds. Both type of engine uses direct injection system, aluminum block, forged steel crankshaft, double overhead cam type, and piston cooling with jet spray. The GMC Canyon and Chevy Colorado are the most fuel efficient vehicles in midsize truck section. For two wheel drive option the V6 engine gives a mileage of 18/26/21 mpg in city, highway and combined respectively. Whereas all wheel drive V6 engine gives an overall mileage of 20 mpg with 24 mpg in highway and 17 mpg in city.
2017 GMC Canyon – Competition and Pricing
The GMC Canyon 2017 is expected to be available in the market during the second half of 2016. The base model will have a starting price of around $25,500. And price of SLE and SLT model will remain in the range of $36,000-$39,000.
